Baseball Camp

Camp Director: Todd Peterson – McMinnville High School (Head Baseball Coach)

General Information

SYL’s “Go Be Great” Baseball Camp is an exciting sports camp designed for young athletes of all skill levels. The camp’s main focus is to teach the fundamental skills of baseball, such as proper throwing and catching techniques, effective fielding strategies, and mastering the mechanics of hitting and baserunning. These core skills are broken down step by step to ensure that athletes, regardless of their experience or background in the game, can grasp the fundamentals and improve their abilities.

In addition to the technical aspects of baseball, the message “Go Be Great” aims to instill valuable life lessons in every camper. Athletes will be guided to understand the importance of teamwork, where each player contributes to the collective success of the team. The camp will emphasize respect for coaches, teammates, opponents, and the game itself, fostering an environment where positive interactions and mutual support are key. Responsibility will also be a major theme, encouraging campers to take ownership of their progress, respect their commitments, and contribute to the team’s overall experience.

The camp is designed to be fun and inclusive, ensuring that all participants, whether beginners or more advanced players, will walk away with new skills, a deeper appreciation for the game, and a sense of camaraderie. By the end of the camp, every child will have gained not only technical skills but also lasting friendships, a sense of pride, and a love for baseball that will continue to grow beyond the camp experience.
